Referenda?
The other day we got a leaflet through the door discussing local referenda in Boston MA that will be taking place on the same day of the US election.
It seems there is going to be a vote on the decriminlisation of possesion of marajuana under a certain amount as well as a vote on dog racing and a vote on the abolition of the state Income tax.
So when I hear people harping on back home in England about how referendums are too difficult, and we elect politicians to do the job for us all I can think of is...... boll_cks!
If a US state can pull it off I am sure counties or countries in the UK can, or is it only of use when the government get the answer they want, and want to push through legislation i.e. devolution?
