Does anybody here have very little faith and trust in the police?

Changing to black uniforms, openly carrying side arms on visits to the supermarket, no identification on their riot gear (all black).
All for the purpose of being more and more intimidating. I would not trust one any further than I could throw him/her/it.

Perhaps the following link should give an idea of what the Police have to contend with as a result of their PC (no pun intended) Policies.

I have no faith in them.
I was brought up to respect the police and did until I moved out of the countryside into the city. It was then I discovered how they where either useless or just plain nasty. It seems though that this attitude within the force has spread out into the shires now as well. There needs to be a whole scale revision of the police force and how it operates along with the CPS and the plastic bobbies. Ea of dune |

Since Thatcher and the battles with the Trade Unions in the 80's the function and politicisation of the police has contributed to the position we are in today.
Their appearance is such that they look like an occupying army and certainly the notion of policing by consent is finished The police we had has been sacrificed in the name of expediency, stupidity and PC madness how anyone can do the job nowadays is beyond me

In the DT today, Ian Johnston, president of the Police Superintendents' Association, said police officers are "rude and uncivil". "There are toomany occasions when police stations are not open, when we don't answer the phone and when, having recorded an offence, we don't go back to keep people up-to-date on what we are doing". "Over half the complaints against the police are about rudeness and incivility and about lack of service".
It's an article well worth a read and concludes with a wry proposal the it be re-named the Polite Force.

I know and like some of my local police. Unfrotunately they have all but closed our town's police station (Carterton) and the last time I reported an offence at Witney I had to use a 'phone on the wall to report the crime to a central location. The person answering had no idea where my home town was let alone the geography of the local streets. The complaint got lost and wasn't replied to except by 'phone after 11 days!!! I made a complaint and that was dealt with by 'phone as well!!!!! The individuals I know are fine, but they are older and retiring soon. They are hampered in their efforts by a system few of them genuinely subscribe to.
The complaint I was making was against a known thug who has been causing problems locally. My complaint was filed. He has since smashed his wife in the face whilst drinking and (possibly) doing drugs. She has had to evict him from the family home with the help of the police. Soft on crime, soft on the causes of crime.
