Default Metro Hotel, Woking.

Soldier is refused room at hotel

Corporal Tomos Stringer was out of uniform when tried to book a room.
A soldier home on leave after being injured in Afghanistan was refused a room by a hotel when he showed his military ID card at reception.

Corporal Tomos Stringer, 23, from Gwynedd, was visiting a wounded colleague in Surrey when he was turned away from the Metro Hotel in Woking.

BBC NEWS | UK | Wales | Soldier is refused room at hotel

Metro Hotel, Woking. I'll remember that should I need a hotel in that neck of the woods, and take my business elsewhere.

agree that it is disgraceful. similar to hospitals in Birmingham that asked squaddies to not come into the hospital in uniform in case it upset the muslim drs and nurses. I am not sure if this was the same reason given for the hotel refusing accommodation. As far as I understand, UK forces are at war in two Muslim countries but not at war with Muslims per se.

It is very sad that we have become such an apologist rather than having pride in a group of men and women who are following orders and putting their lives at great risk.

Is everyone sure that the Metro Hotel isn't now owned by Afghan asylum seekers?

it is easy for the manager of the metro hotel woking to blame a receptionist for not allowing a british soldier to stay at the hotel. if the manager in question had any moral fibre whatsoever, he would resign his post immediately. the soldier in question should receive a written apology from the owners of the hotel and be awarded compensation by the hotel. if the metro hotel woking was the last hotel on the planet, i would not use it. boycott the metro hotel woking one and all....shame on you metro hotel woking....

The Annual Report Lists the following directors for American Amusements Ltd. Perhaps a polite letter might get some results.

Default American Amusements

Sorry, the annual reports do not give emails.

A company policy that bans servicemen and women simply doesn't make any sense, so my guess is that these gentlemen did not implement such a policy from the top. However, they certainly have the power to correct the problem once it is brought to their attention.

I think that the manager should be dismissed. He obviously has the wrong staff and he must take responsibility for their actions.
Is he sure that allhis staff are legally allowed to remain and work in britain. Perhaps this should be investigated thoroughly. It wouldn't surprise me if the hotel has terrorist connections. May be they should have their licence revoked.
I certainly will not stay there and will tell everyone i know not to stay there.

Can i suggest a standard type letter that numerous people can send to the head office. If they get sufficient response surely they will have to do something about it.
