Default Nigel Bumped off Question Time for Janet Street-Porter

Quote:
How fortuitous that last night's Question Time had Home Secretary Jacqui Smith on the panel just after hours after Met Chief Sir Ian Blair's resignation. Unfortunately, the flagship BBC show hosted by David Dimbleby still managed to find itself embroiled in a gender storm of its own making. Trouble arose when producers made a late switch in the line-up bumping off fiery UKIP leader Nigel Farage in favour of Richard Lambert, the director-general of the CBI. The Birmingham panel also comprised Charles Kennedy, Janet Street-Porter and Michael Heseltine.

With credit crunch concerns biting producers no doubt felt economic concerns would be more pressing. But what enraged Farage, who worked in the City himself for many years, was that when he asked why he could not swap with Janet Street-Porter he was reportedly told she was being kept on the panel "to keep our gender balance".

BBC viewers have criticised the move as "deeply insulting." Farage complainedto Tory blogger Iain Dale about the decision. "When I interviewed Nigel Farage he was not a happy ukipper," says Dale. "And so ladies and gentlemen, that's why you have just had to endure an hour of Janet Stree Pawah - a woman whose voice is worse than chalk screeching across a blackboard."

Farage will not be amused to learn Nancy Dell'Olio has been lined up as a future panellist.

I'd complain to beeb but it won't do any good. Left-wing tossers.

"told she was being kept on the panel "to keep our gender balance"."
I recall being in the audience for a Jonathan Dimbleby programme where ,when we had all been seated people were moved so that there was colour balance, blacks being moved throughout the studio to give 'mix' rather than having 'ghettos' where black friends stayed together.Pathetic !

When I was in a QT audience there was some moving people about but it seemed to be about mixing up the colour of people's clothing!

NF will be on in November.

Janet S-P was good on criticising current policing practices.

Which actually makes sense, because that's how DD identifies audience participants. If he had two "red sweaters with blue tie" side by side, it could cause confusion if both wanted to speak at the same time...

Extreme left-wing tossers may be more appropriate!
