John West:
John turned up at the NEC uninvited, he was made welcome by everyone around the table. At the beginning of the meeting Dr Whittaker who was chairing the meeting asked John West if he could explain to the meeting why he was there.

John West then explained that he felt he was the twelfth elected member and was here to take up his seat. Dr Whittaker thanked him and asked if he would kindly wait outside whilst the meeting discussed this matter.

Dr Whittaker then asked Mr Zuckerman (party secretary) to explain to the meeting where we stood. Mr Zuckerman then explained that we currently have 12 elected members one which includes Nigel Farage- Nigel has a place on the NEC as Party Leader but would be ex officio but he currently holds his seat as an elected member until 2009. It was agreed by a majority vote that John West is not the twelfth member. Eric Edmond then left the room to tell John West of the outcome. We did not see John West again that day.

Eric Edmond:
At the point of matters arising DCB asked for a motion to be put forward reference the behaviour of Dr Eric Edmond whilst attending the NEC meetings which is making it become difficult to actually achieve any business.(I don't have the exact wording of the motion until the minutes are released) There was then a heated exchange of words between Dr Edmond and Michael Zuckerman regarding the matter of emails. Dr Whittaker then asked Eric if he would kindly leave the room whilst the meeting discussed the matter ,Eric then said'of course John I will go'.

The matter was discussed around the room regarding the behaviour and it was decided to asked Dr Edmond back into the room so he could respond to the motion. Delroy Young left the room to ask Dr Edmond to come back in ,as they were taking a long time Mr Christopher Gill left the room to ask them both to return.

Dr Whittaker then asked Dr Edmond would he like to take this opportunity to speak to the meeting reference the motion. Dr Edmond replied 'No John I would not, I am going to leave the meeting and seek legal advice from my son in Fresh fields' Dr Whittaker asked Dr Edmond 'will you be returning this afternoon?'

Dr Edmond replied 'No John it will be impossible to put my case together this afternoon.' Dr Edmond then left the meeting and it was decided around the table to send a letter to Dr Edmond outlining the motion and to give him enough time to put his case to us at the next NEC meeting.

At no point was Dr Edmond suspended from the meeting, expelled from the meeting or treated without respect. Dr Edmond continually claims he was asked to leave the meeting but Doug Denny repeated on several occasions that Dr Edmond left the meeting of his own accord.

You made the point about raised voices etc, there are twelve members elected to the NEC and there will always be moments where we don't all agree and everyone wants to get there point across, I have been going since May and the only angry raised voice has been Dr Edmond, all the other elected members take there turn to be heard and behave with decorum.

What is disappointing is that a very small minority of our party are seeming to wish it harm and are divulging confidential information or putting out untruths to our hard working members. We are certainly not railroaded by the leadership infact quite the opposite at times.

The selection process has been very successful on the whole and it is mainly members not achieving either a position on the list or not gaining the position they wanted who are complaining. The NEC has dedicated alot of time listening to these complaints and have made good clear judgements on the outcome. If you are wanting more of an insight into individual cases please let me know.. In terms of a 'stitch up' I would personally not be a part of any of this kind of corruption, and would be the first to speak out if I felt it was happening.

I will be happy to answer any of your queries in the future providing I am not breaking confidentiality. I have had the permission of the Chairman to respond to your email to get the correct facts out, which incidentally I have already sent to John West who wasn't in the room when all of the Dr Edmond points were raised.

I hope this answers your questions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the hard work you put into our Party. If we all had the same passion we would be very successful.

John West is entitled to a place on the NEC as a result of the last NEC elections in Spring 2008 when he finished 5th. There is a clear vacancy on the NEC. John was not made welcome by anyone except Delroy and me. He and I were both abused by Farage on our way into the meeting and accused of living on another planet. I replied to Farage this was about democracy.

After John West left and I returned Zuckerman proceeded to abuse John West in a voice so loud that John West outside in the corridor with Piers Merchant could hear every word. Zuckerman ended up by stating John West suffered from Tourettes, a syndrome that causes twitching and compulsive use of foul language. John West had not used any foul language and had addressed the NEC in mild and moderate language. I asked Zuckerman three times what was his evidence for saying John had Tourettes and three times he gave no answer. Whittaker then stopped me from asking Zuckerman again what was his evidence for his Tourettes remark about John West. It is of course a slander on John West that he and Piers Merchant heard outside the room in a public corridor.

Zuckerman then shouted abuse at me for about 3 minutes which again was heard by those outside in the corridor and ended up with the remark that I had 'electronic Tourettes'. I challenge you or Zuckerman or any one on the NEC to produce any email I have sent containing foul language. I had to shout back to make myself heard over Zuckerman's shouting.

You admit you do not have the exact words of the motion so how on earth could I 'put my case in 5 minutes', the words Whittaker actually used, against an unknown motion, allegation or charge! .(I don't have the exact wording of the motion until the minutes are released) is your words i.e. the charges against me will be concocted after the meeting - you give the game away Ms Duffy!. It was an ambush by a kangaroo court from beginning to end. It is obviously impossible to defend yourself against unknown charges.

I replied to Whittaker that to defend myself I was entitled to see the charges against me in writing with reasonable time to consult a lawyer and prepare my defence. That is the British way of justice but you obviously prefer the EU way.

Whittaker did not ask me 'will you be returning this afternoon?' That is something you have made up.

Whittaker waved his hand at me in dismissal and I left stating I wouldl return to defend myself when I knew the charges. There is no doubt in my mind, to Delroy Young or the listeners outside that I was expelled from the NEC.

The only time the NEC listened to a complaint was in June against Gerard Batten. The leadership clearly wished to undermine Mr Batten. No other complaint has ever been properly heard.

There are only 3 independent NEC members, myself David Abbott and Delroy Young. We are the only members ever to vote against the leadership. I cannot recall you Ms Duffy ever opposing any leadership motion.

While on the NEC I never divulged any confidential UKIP information to anyone outside the NEC. Farage states he does not trust the NEC and only discusses confidential matters with his political committee of trusted cronies so how could I be the source of any leaks. Clearly the leaks must come from the political committee.

I reject utterly your assertion that other elected members behave with decorum. I do not raise my voice except when Zuckerman is shouting. The main angry raised voice is Farage who makes abusive attacks accusing David Abbott of supporting the BNP. Denny makes abusive personal attacks on Delroy. Bannerman frequently threatens to sue me and you Ms Duffy accuse me, with no evidence, of having another agenda. I reply to you for the umpteenth time, I have one agenda and that is to get the UK out of the EU.

There are strong prima facie cases that the selection process in many regions was a manipulated stitch up. These complaints have been completely ignored by the NEC. Our hard working members have a right to know the truth. No legal threat will silence me from telling our honest members the truth that they have a right to know.

'If you are wanting more of an insight into individual cases please let me know.' indicates you have no idea of how to handle personal confidential information.

The accusation that, 'the behaviour of Dr Eric Edmond whilst attending the NEC meetings which is making it become difficult to actually achieve any business.' is completely untrue. What I did do was demand the NEC should abide by the UKIP constitution, listen to all the evidence on complaints and behave in a proper business manner. The NEC does not exist , and I was not elected, to rubber stamp without question decisions made by Farage's shadowy political committee for which no minutes seem to exist and if they do exist none are shown to the NEC. That is the substance of the leaderships dislike of me. I tell the truth, stick to the rules and refuse to be bullied..

Finally because the leadership on the NEC seem now to wish to rewrite the history of 8th Sept to hedge my position I will attend the next NEC if Nuttall tells me when it is with sufficient notice to attend, and does not cancel it. My lawyers advice is I will need at least 3 months after receipt of charges to prepare my defence.

Actually, it is mainly members who were not on the list at all that are complaining (quite rightly) that they were hoodwinked into voting and several of those that were on the list were on it ILLEGALLY, and MUST be removed completely . The list must be re-run according to rules.

Eric makes one very good point if nothing else; it's amazing how Ms. Duffy had perfect recollection of the exact words used surrounding Eric's egress from and subsequent return to the meeting, but couldn't report even the generalities of the "motion reference the behaviour of Dr Eric Edmond". How long was the statement? How fast did the complainant utter the words of 'the motion', that Lisa's apparently perfect note-taking disintegrated?

Still, at least she recovered from the writer's cramp quickly enough to take legible quotes afterwards.

Another thing I would like to know is if Dr Edmonds can say who the Farage Leadership Political Commitee are,can we have their names,if not from him then from anyone even?

I have heard the NEC's minutes secretary has resigned, so technically no-one was.

It has been suggested (someone, not me, recently phoned HQ and asked), that current political committee members are:

Alan Bown, David Campbell Bannerman, Nigel Farage, Christopher Gill, Lord Pearson, John Whittaker and Michael Zuckerman or Piers Merchant

I'd thought Steve Allison was on it, but times change...

We are told that Lisa Duffy is not breaching confidentiality, because she had been given permission from John Whittaker. When did she ask for that permission? Can we assume that many of the infamous leaks, are not leaks at all, but dispensations from the restraint of confidentiality granted by the Chairman himself? If the Chairman is allowed to grant ad-hoc dispensations outside of NEC meetings, by what means can these privileges be recorded? If it was necessary to correct an error or misunderstanding, would it not have been more convincing if the letter had been written by the Party Secretary, with the approval of the NEC, rather than hastily fabricate a doctrine of Confidentiality Dispensation? I suspect that a further doctrine of Infallibility will be with us very soon. With all those writs, summonses and investigations coming to fruition,
cellular contemplation, in a more harsh and secular environment, could be their final stop on the road to truth.

David Campbell-Bannerman or whatever name he is going by this week
Lord Pearson of Rannoch
Bob Spink
Steve Allison
Clive Page
Piers Merchant
Christopher Gill
Alan Bown
David Sinclair

John Whittaker was on the committee. I presume that Paul Nuttall has taken his place - that is if Nigel can fully trusted by our dear leader!

My list of political committee members may be outdated - it wouldn't surprise me if Nigel has gone all Joseph Stalin on some of the committee members in the past couple of months!
