I've tried to post a comment but it doesn't seem to let me.

More great material appearing on the blog but hardly any comments so far. Can someone technical tell me if you can post a comment on the site without registering - the buttons at the bottom are not what I would call clear.

You can't post comments unless you have either a Google Blogger account or an openid account.

Out of the two, I'd go for the openid account. Go to Welcome to OpenID.ORG and create one. Very useful for leaving reasonably anonymous comments, should you so desire. Personally, I resent the lack of opportunity to post as a guest without to jump through hoops first, but it's Tim's blog and his rules.

I don't allow anonymous comments on my blogs for the simple reason that if someone isn't prepared to put their name to their words then they probably shouldn't be saying it. It's also easier to manage spam if users have to register or at least provide email addresses.

Your blogs, your prerogative, Mr. Sane.

It seems to me to be a right pain to have to register on every possible site you might want to post a comment on. Especially when the process is not explained and less than clear.

Certainly is chik, I make no attempt to conceal my identity and I say some controversial things.

eublues, it is a pain and that's why OpenID was created. Check out the OpenID website for more details: OpenID How do I get an OpenID?

Wonkotsane, the EU wants to make anonymous blogging illegal. Do you agree?

Still almost no comments left on this well-written blog.

I would respond if I could post anonymously or if I could figure out with certainty how to register!
