Independent UKIP, Geoffrey Collier appears to have proved DCB's original claim to be a non-existent great-nephew of Campbell-Bannerman to have been false. I suspect he is using readily available Internet research sources to do that.
It might be that the information posted on the Internet is unreliable, but if what is posted is true then we in UKIP (when I pay my renewal) are entitled to know the facts of the matter. It would not be good for the party if the lead candidate in the Eastern Region were proved to be a fraud or imposter. I would be very surprised if the information posted by Geoffrey is not already known to other political parties who will reserve it until after the nominations are closed and the lists cannot be changed. UKIP seems to have a political death wish as it lines up candidates in the NW (winner resigns in suspicious circumstances to give job to second place candidate), London/SE (foreign candidate near top of list not on UK electoral roll at time of UKIP internal election, therefore not eligible to have been a candidate), East (person with spurious claim to relationship with famous person tops list - UKIP don't really know who DCB is) etc. DCB should at least prove his origins are precisely those he claimed otherwise it will all come back to haunt us.

Aardvark: You can discount any of my submissions being wrong due to website inaccuracies. I did my research from written evidence; biographies, council research, Whitakers Almnack, public records office. Indian records should be relatively easy to verify, but let us hope that DCB, will spare us any more embarrassment. He is NOT who he claims to be; that fact cannot be disputed. Therefore, having attempted to seek preferment by making false claims, he must now tell us the real truth. We didn't ask him to lie in the first place.
What is wrong with his Party? The claims of the 'Hon' Sobey-Neville, were proven to be false merely by consulting Burke's Peerages and Debretts. That evidence was conclusive, but the leadership insisted that he was who he claimed to be; the 'Conservative Party told us; why would they lie?'. We are again going down the same road. |

Geoffrey, I do not know any of the personalities involved in these constant and widespread, internicine disputes, but it does seem that UKIP has serious and probably terminal troubles unless someone takes a hand.

david H: Who do you identify as the disputants, those who create the problems by their
own actions and claims, or those who identify them and are subsequently ignored? Where is the leadership? It is they who must act. DCB, must either produce evidence to refute my allegations, or he must go. For his assertion to be true, he must be the grandson of Sir James Campbell born in 1824, while he, DCB, must have been born in the 19c and subsequently change his name. That is not in the realms of rational debate. |

I don't know. It is the impression I get from looking at posts. On other threads the BNP are arguing but it seems to inspired from outside forces whereas UKIP.s seems to be really internal and to come from the top.

According to this article, David (Campbell) Bannerman is the great-great-great-great nephew of Sir Henry Campbell Bannerman, not his 'great nephew':

I'm sure we can all find famous forebears if we go back far enough. I've read a site written by a Gilman/Gillman (mother's maiden name) that traces us all back to minor aristos in Norfolk, one of whom fought alongside Essex and got land in Ireland etc. As I'm from the Irish branch that makes it clear who my noble forebear was (we are all descended from him). My McDougall ancestors, married a Gilman, are descended, probably, from Dougall, second son of Somerled, Lord of the Isles, who defeated the Danes at the Battle of Harlaw in 1064 (Donald, the first son, is progenitor of the McDonalds, Lords of the Isles). We could hardly bill me as 'descendant of famous warriors' as if it was relevant.
Is it David Bannerman or Campbell-Bannerman as the Campbell-Bannerman bit seems to be from a deceased lineage and the other relatives would have been Campbells or Bannermans. Bannerman's in the Campbell's soup.

All of this chit chat re DCB`s ancestors reminds me of an exchange that I had with DCB way back in 2005/6 I believe .
He was the new chairman of UKIP and he came onto the forum with a pretty vicious post about something or other and made a bit of a fool of himself..I can`t trace it as my posts don`t go back that far and I cannot recall which name he posted under -none of the obvious ones seem to be linked to him .Perhaps someone in authority on this site could have a look . Anyhow I asked him point blank what his relationship was to the "Great Man" and he came back and said words to the effect that he was a distant relative of the said deceased PM and that the term "great nephew " could mean any distant relationship ,it didn`t have to mean "great nephew" at all .Ring any bells with anyone ? Alice in Wonderland might be one . Re Sobey- Neville or whatever his real name was -nice chap ,as I said at the time he made a great cup of tea ,was also a good friend of Trixie ,I believe that they went to university together .Makes you think doesn`t it ? Was she fooled or did she know ? |
