I'm now with the majority of people in this country: not a member of a political party. It's a shame, I have so much admiration and respect for some of the people in UKIP, like the leader who is incredibly dedicated and selfless. However, like DK, I just couldn't tolerate the actions of a small number of the members whose actions are harming the party a huge amount.

One member has taken to e-mailing my former colleagues in Brussels to ask about my salary, another one has instructed a solicitor to send me letters and is, I have been informed, traveling around branch meetings in the Eastern Region talking about me. I've had people calling me up in the middle of the night threatening me, abusive e-mails and at one point someone calling me up and threatening to break my legs.

UKIP are the only party I would vote for currently and that's because I know at the heart of it there are a few decent, hardworking people who believe in what they are doing. But for my part, I'm too young to continue doing what I was having to do. And if I continue, I will probably turn into a person I don't want to be. Lord knows, I am already an angry cynic who generally finds people utterly disappointing and depressing. I'd much rather be independent, on the outside commenting than in the middle having to justify why I spend so much of my time dealing with ****.

No matter what UKIP members may think Trixy has done, no matter what they feel about that, nobody deserves threats and/or abusive emails.

If this is correct (and I have little reason to doubt her), those involved ought to be ashamed of themselves.

I'd agree with you but I'm a tad more cynical I'm afraid. With her record I really do find it hard to believe all she says.

If it turns out she's lied, that's the last of her credibility gone.

Personally, having observed her posts on this forum over the years, Trixy has tended to demonstrate an ability to post first and think later, especially when passionate about something.

It's entirely consistent that this is a genuine post from her perspective. She's young and has shown a touching naivete in her view of UKIP's end of the political sphere.

Like many of us, she probably believed the UKIP spin about honesty, probity and integrity. It will have come as a shock to have the sort of attacks usually aimed at her employers turned upon her. There are those out there who have been verbally abusing her for months via email, discussion lists, etc. It does tend to wear one down after a while, even with years of experience.

I can assure you that threatening phone calls are nothing new, some from members who elsewhere are arguing for more 'transparency and openness' in the party. Similarly writs and threats of legal action: I've only been served one writ, and that I would quite happily have defended until it was decided otherwise for political reasons. I did draw the line at receiving a dead cat in the mail though, it upset the children. And no, I'm not joking.

They should not be threatening to break her legs.

Truth is not far from an older-than-Bill-Gates-adage that states "If one wants to sup with Lucifer then one had better purchase a long, ornamental spoon (bought from Ikea)"

If one has in past posts and actions been reasonably vicious then it will not be entirely unexpected that the large hammer of KARMA plops down. Think on it "Trixie".

Robert McQuirter is correct, naturally - they should not threaten to break her legs or other limbs.

If someone threatened to break my legs, I would get straight on the phone to the police.
Are the police involved? If not, they should be, assuming that the allegations are correct.
