Well, people still aren't leaving me alone. In fact, people are now asking and debating why I want to be left alone now!

It's all getting very silly. I'm sick of being considered by certain people as belonging to them; someone who can be persecuted because they've paid £20 (or £10, most likely) to join an organisation.

In the words of The Blow Monkeys, 'you don't own me'. It's just weird and creepy to think of all these people I don't know bashing away at their...keyboards in the dark. Go down the pub, get a hobby which isn't me. Something. Please, I beg of you.

It is truly sick that people should behave in this way, and pobably sicker that some seem to condone some of it.

As she says, politics turns us into different people. It's the ugliest business I have ever seen.

Speak for yourself, I'm pretty sure I am much the same person I was fifteen years ago when I first became politically active. If I have changed, it's probably more to do with growing up and general life experience than politics.

The key to maintaining your sanity in politics is not to take political defeats, cheating, machinations, and the nastiness of others personally, or at the very least maintain that pretense. Understand that it is something of a game and enjoy it for what it is - a participatory sport, game, contest of wits, real-life soap opera etc.

If at the end of the day, you can't laugh at it all (and thus keep it in perspective) go and find yourself another hobby.

In the main, the loathsome, petty and lazy armchair activists who post on this forum (which I have to confess I have never visited before, and won’t be again) wouldn’t know a political asset if it bit them on their arthritic arses. You are spectacular. Well done, its people like you that ENSURE UKIP will never leave the political bleachers, and will forever be in the Lance-Watkins’ morasse of political freakishness/conspiracy theory ****.

Why not pick a proper victim next time, maybe the incorruptible Tom Wise? Or his crooked staff like the ever litigious Mr. Cole?

Annabel was an asset to the party. If you had bothered to monitor the press while she was in the press office you would have noticed that UKIP achieved the best coverage we’d ever received when she was there. She believed in our movement, and what we sought to achieve, she also, and I recognize this will be a bombshell – got results.
  • Do you actually know why she resigned?
  • Have you bothered to ask her?
  • No?
  • Why you gutless freaks?
  • Because it’s easier to sling mud at a girl? It is easier isn’t it?

Annabel resigned two months ago, in JUNE because her colleague in the press office wouldn’t stop groping her ****, and looking at porn on the computer while she was there. I understand she was also expected to act as his secretary when she had her arm in plaster, but you are not actually entitled to know this kind of stuff – this is personal personnel stuff, not fodder for this wretched forum. But more interestingly, where do your senses of entitlement come from? You think a PC and a bad attitude, and being fat and unpopular and weird in school and never having achieved much in life, and having a low paying job means that your voice should be heard anywhere? Because it doesn’t. It actually entitles you to a one-way trip to the dole office, and a lifetime in polyester trousers. You want your voice heard on a national stage? Stand on your merits and achievements, put forward your prescription for the nation at a general election - face judgment by your peers, and if they don’t support you, either shut up, or do what your mothers should have done. Go and drown yourselves. But certainly stop writing drivel on a forum designed for those who have had wholly successful personality bypasses.

Now, kindly please proceed to spend your time attacking me for highlighting your many faults. Be outraged! Dash off a few posts and write to your local paper! Go and have your Somerfield chicken kiev tv dinner for one, and leave Annabel alone.

Can’t say I’ll be bothered by the attacks to come, I’ll never read them.

Have a good day!

Agreed. Couldn't have put it better.

Does that mean that we have to be able to laugh at our nation being swallowed up by a non democratic European superstate?

Indeed, M3. Rather easier to regard politics as a game if you have money to burn in the pursuit of it and are not emotionally involved in the issues you are promoting.

For those who care deeply and passionately about the future of their country and have sunk every penny they can afford, and every spare moment of their time, into a political endeavour to rescue it, it is perhaps a little more difficult to laugh off the cheating and machinations of others as a bit of a set-back in a participatory sport.

If you happen to know someone with money to burn please send them my way!! It may save me from burning money that I don't have.

And of course it is possible to believe strongly in a cause (as I happen to, despite what you are implying) but to refuse to get over-invested emotionally.
One of the problems that I see with UKIP is that it is full of people with overlarge egos and overly thin skins (think Richard Suchorchewski storming off in a huff after being called various names, John West, Peter Reeve and their supporters mutually excommunicating each other and those linked to them from various branch committees or positions as PPCs, or the events leading to Annabelle's current condition, to name just a few). Thanks but I value my sanity too much to be drawn into that.
