We all regard the posting on youtube of the video of John West’s euro-candidate selection interview as unacceptable.

It has been argued that the source of this posting may have been Annabelle Fuller, who was involved in the interview and had possession of the relevant computer records.

I have received a statement from Miss Fuller in which she denies making this posting. She does, however admit to negligence, saying that she left a laptop computer containing the file in a taxi in London around 4 July. This was returned to her some 5 days later by the taxi driver who advised her that he had, in the meantime, passed it to a third party who had inspected the files in order to identify the owner.

Miss Fuller has not been working in the UKIP press office for some weeks. I understand she has now resigned from the party and from her post as press officer.

I am disinclined to take further action.

She has been unbelievably unlucky. For the friend of a taxi driver who had found her laptop to use it to upload John West's video, rather than Farage's or another MEP's after she already made reference to it here, is phenomenally bad luck. You just couldn't make this stuff up.

It just shows that those people here who falsely asserted that a UKIP press officer might be involved need to get their facts straight first. I won't be holding my breath waiting for the apologies.

Has she resigned due to false accusations from within the party?

I do find it odd that she resigned over this. Perhaps she jumped before she was pushed (usually a good plan), but I would have thought that the party would be very nervous of getting on the wrong side of her since she knows where the bodies are buried. I wonder whether we will be reading a kiss and tell story any time soon.

Even more amazing is the fact that the person who'd copied the video went to Morocco at the same time as Annabelle and uploaded the file from there. The coincidence is equally amazing as it would tend to point the finger, unwittingly, at Annabelle. I understand, however, that Annabelle is neither alluring nor Teutonic.

The taxi driver's friend could have flown out to Morroco from London with the laptop, perhaps trying to return her laptop to her, and uploaded a random video to Youtube, without presumably knowing who John West is, and then flown back to London to return the laptop a few days later. That's what I would do if I found a laptop.

Luckily he realised the fuss he had created and opted to take down the video to help out UKIP.

It is of course a strange name for the Moroccan friend of a taxi driver...alluringlyteutoinic... but perhaps he thought it was worth opening up a new Youtube account to hide his identity.

To try to be accurate, there's no proof it was uploaded from Morocco, merely that alluringlyteutinic fed that into the location field on the YouTube membership form... Anyone studying the laptop might well have found out where she was on hols...

No, I'm just pointing out that it's being taken as gospel here that it was posted from Morocco, and whilst that may well be true, it doesn't prove 'owt...
