Clive Page: I must say from the start, that your version of events will almost certainly be challenged by the NEC. If the Political Committee is independent of the NEC, the PC must accept full credit or discredit for any final result. The NEC, I understand, do not have either representatives at PC meetings, or copies of their minutes distributed to them.

Should there be a pending court case, the liability in respect of personal and collective responsibility will be a central issue.

Should it have been agreed by both the NEC and PC, to allow Mr Gill to take a holiday
during the selection process, that will appear in their respective minutes. Presumably, both committees also agreed that a replacement for Mr Gill was not necessary whilst he was away. Who then, was actually in charge? Mr Gill freely accepted a duty, and he decided to go on holiday. Whether it was agreed or not, that was not consistent with the obligations which he had accepted. If you don't like the word reprehensible, I would err from using the word laudable. I, like everyone else, judge people by their own actions. Have you discovered a modern substitute for that, Mr Page. I trust that you will circulate your very personal version of events to all the NEC.

Regardless of who said or did what, and regardless of the rights and wrongs of the situation, there will be no legal liability.

John West appears to have partly provoked the act of which he complains, and to have provoked it of a self-employed service provider, while Peterc himself has repeatedly re-posted the allegedly libellous comments, hardly the act of one whose reputation has been harmed by the original utterence.

Mark they are not my views, just those of our barrack room lawyer, anti UKIP friends, I do not believe either case has merit, and I am sure the various Statutory entities with responsibility for the legal decisions will judge on the basis of the evidence. It is a shame that people like GC have little regard for honesty and integrity. He has received a post from Clive Page and without anything to back it up trashes Clive's response. I would have no hesitation were I ask to seek to have GC expelled from the party.

Hmm... was this Annabelle's status within UKIP whilst a member?

Get over it guys and move on. There is the minor issue of the, um, er, Lisbon Treaty ratification to focus on.

BobFM: My reply to Clive Page was a brief, but relevant reply to that gentleman's original posting. What claim did I make which was factually wrong, or source for verification that does not exist? Increasingly your postings are becoming as manic as they are offensive. The normal rules of debate are unknown to you, and you have little
in the way of political knowledge to impart.

Should you wish to nominate me for expulsion from the Party, please continue in that direction: let us see what evidence you can produce which stands up to scrutiny.
Basically you are just a foolish bully, with not a grain of toleration or democratic instinct within you. Unlike Voltaire, you will never cry out with delight that, 'English liberty has conquered me', for you despise that liberty and the culture which made it possible. Go and seek your 'expulsions', and see what manner of men support you.

"Concerning Annabelle Fuller, which, incidentally, is getting in the way of clear thinking, let us first ask, who paid her employer's NI Contribution?"

I believe that would have been Annabelle Fuller. As is normal for those who are self-employed.

Tim Worstall: Therefore, while she may have had contractual duties with UKIP, it is likely that only the IDG was involved? Presumably that would also apply to Clive Page, who I believe is not a member of UKIP. We live in strange times!

Can't say, I'm not party to all of the arrangements (at the moment at least). I just know from conversation that Annabelle was self employed in the tax sense in the UK.
