Who would you vote for...in the North West?

I think members have to decide whether to go for experience or change.
Greg Beaman has the political experience and probably more people know him in the North West than any of the other candidates. That has to be a big advantage.
But it has to be asked, has the party really progressed since Greg has been regional organiser, and would it be likely to progress if he became an MEP?
Membership has dropped considerably in the NW and some branches have even closed down altogether. It has to be said a change might be good for the party.
I would never advocate change for change sake and I have nothing against Greg as a person, but perhaps someone with new ideas who can go out and sell our party and increase our membership, our following and, most importantly, our votes must be good for UKIP and our aims. I just feel we need a kick start and someone with the ideas and the determination of some of the other candidates could well breath new life into UKIP in the NW. My choice would be Paul Nuttall and my second choice would be Terry Durrance.
Both these gentlemen give the impression of putting the party before their personal ambitions and I am sure both would take UKIP to new heights in the North West.

That's not terribly accurate Joan. There were only around 6 branches in the NW in 2004 when I joined, there were around 20 when I left a year or two ago. I saw how hard Greg Beaman worked when he formed the branch I was in, and two or three nearby ones. There is also now an annual two day regional conference and a regular regional newsletter I believe.

Membership has dropped all over the country, not just in the NW. I have not renewed for example because of national events.

Rosie to be fair all the parties are losing paid up members for a variety of reasons, this is not exclusive to UKIP. Labour are losing members by the cart load. It is true to say that of the top 4 parties only UKIP is financially solvent.

UKIP's finances aren't quite so healthy at the moment, I believe, but they are still leagues ahead of the big three, having no substantial debt.

However, spending on the EU elections may have to be curbed due to the Electoral Commission high court appeal and any fines/expenses from the John West video incident. Both could suck up valuable funds, and will also deter members from donating; no one wants to give money straight to the lawyers.

I would vote for Paul Nuttall. I know he works really hard and is excellent on a platform. Also, his articles in the Independence news are always spot on and represent the direction UKIP needs to go.

Paul Nutall was my main choice. I decided against McManus because I think he is the least experienced of the candidates.

Nutall's election results have been leaping year upon year, and if things carry on he is set to beat Labour.

I have just posted my envelope, as I did I had a worrisome thought if GB is elected and the next in line are PN and McM, who would be regional organiser? neither PN or Mcm are able to fulfil this role as both are employed by UKIP.
I feel a good RO is worth their weight in gold, I have never been foremost anti EU. I am more depressed by the state of domestic politics, albeit dictated by the EU. We need a quality RO in order to develop branches , and to help us be more electable at a local level.

I can't follow this at all. Beaman is currently the RO, right? So what have Nuttall's and McManus's places on the candidate list to do with who would fill the RO vacancy if Beaman is elected? The RO doesn't have to be a former candidate, surely? And what have Nuttall and McManus being employees got to do with it anyway? I thought the position of RO was now a voluntary spare time occupation. Why shouldn't either of them be RO? Please clarify.

This is topical. I agree with the previous posters on Paul Nuttall after just reading this. This is the sort of thing UKIP should take up. We need a responsible nationalist movement and UKIP must stop surrendering to PC!
