Default DVD: Remote Control

I'm not even a member anymore, but today I got a professional looking DVD in the post from UKIP.

It is branded UKIP and Independence & Democracy.

It has on it the "remote control" videos that were popping up on youtube, as well as an email address to order more.

Very good

Be good if there were the funds to get these to most households in the country before the Euros - as Goldsmith's party did with a video in 1999.

He did? I have no recollection of receiving a video from Goldsmiths party in 1999 or any other year!

as an alternative, please do promote the NoRemoteControl.org web site as the whole programme can be viewed there. This is better quality than the versions currently on YouTube, FaceBook etc.

Aren't they somewhat wasted on members and ex-members? Or is the plan that they will spread them to people they know?

Afterthought: isn't this unsolicited mail if Tito isn't a member? Does this breach the DPA?

The video was always intended to be propagated virally. The YouTube clips were to raise interest and then point viewers to the long form 20 minute RemoteControl video. Whilst DVDs are part of the strategy, the easiest way to get the message beyond the normal circle of viewers is for the web address ( noremotecontrol.org has been registered. )to be passed from friend to friend, on forums, on blogs etc. Indeed, the truest use of virals is for the address and referrals to be placed on non-political blogs and forums. For example you will find the "Post Office closure viral" on a couple of FaceBook Groups concerned with protecting local Post Offices from closure.

The ordinary voter is not likely to come across this video on the internet.

Well that is why it is important for it to be referred by those that have seen it - on to their friends and colleagues and to get it onto forums that are not necessarily for the party faithful. Any forum that concerns a topic that has been touched by EU influence as well as braoder social network groups. And for those that don't access websites, the tangible DVD is probably a more appropriate way to pass the messages on.
