Perhaps UKIP will win the new seat?

As I just posted elsewhere UKIP have a new Community Councillor in Wales.

That is in Conwy County, Colwyn Bay Community, Rhiw Ward, Janet Griffiths elected in a contested election.

The list also excludes what was accurately reported by another forum member several weeks ago, namely that Hugh McGuinness was elected without contest to Bishopstoke Parish Council for Bishopstoke East Ward.

I do not know if he remains on Fair Oak & Horton Parish Council but there was no notice of election for that Council in 2008 and he was the UKIP District Council candidate for that ward so I think it is quite likely he remains a Parish Councillor there.

Possibly a strategy.

Think about it. Put yourself forward as an independent to appeal to voters who are somehow put off by UKIP or misled into thinking its BNP etc etc

If you win and get a good reputation, stand as UKIP the following election = good promotion for the party as a whole and another seat in the bag

I see he was a UKIP candidate for the 2007 District Council elections but he was not a UKIP candidate for this Parish in 2008 so he is not a UKIP Councillor unless his status has formally changed since becoming elected. He stood, as I'm sure you know, under the description "No To Sixty Four Percentage Increase".

Congratulations to him anyway as I also see he stood for this Parish in 2007 (not for UKIP, actual description if any unknown to me) and was not successful then. I'm not fully clear on what the increase actually ended up being. Do you happen to know?
