Yes, and I was very impressed with his performance on BBC News 24 this morning too.

My concern with NF's leadership is that, although he is far more active and vocal than RK, his strategy is doomed to failure.
Although he might deny it, I believe his current strategy is to change Tory policy to become anti EU, hence the BOO initiative and the general attack on the Tories. This will not succeed for I am sure that Tory high command have done their sums and calculated, if they became anti EU, the number of extra votes they would recieve would be more than cancelled out by the votes they would lose from those who are in favour. This first strategy having failed, later in the year I am sure he intends to go ahead and produce a full manifesto of policies. However, his 'witchcraft' outburst against MMGW, which has been reinforced by a statement by DCB on the UKIP website on the very day of the IPCC report, means that UKIP will have difficulty in being painted anything but MMGW deniers by the opposition. Since climate change is far more important to the vast majority of the voters and the vast majority believe this is as the result of man's activities, in taking such a stance he has severely restrict UKIP's potential vote to such an extent that there is now no chance of a single seat at Westminster at the next GE. What UKIP is likely do if they manage to get 5% at that time is to ensure that Labour win the next election or a lab/lib alliance will govern as the Libs declared before the last election, that they would support Labour should a hung parliament occur. Although I do not have much time for the Tories, I would prefer a change of government, since whilst L remain in office they will be able to conceal the many corrupt practices which I have no doubt have taken place. It has taken a number of years for MMGW to be accepted by the vast majority and, even if it were gradually proven to be untrue, this will take at least two GE's for such a change to reverse the current tide of opinion. This being the case UKIP will have absolutely no effect for at least a decade apart from keeping L in power. As a UKIP member it is good to see the Party getting some exposure, but the cost - total ineffectuality - is too high a price for the occassional warm glow. |
