Where does UKIP stand on ID cards? I would have thought UKIP would be against as it seems or appears to be a blatant breach of civil liberties. Could the high and mighty of UKIP please explain what is the official policy please.

It was announced days ago that UKIP are fully against ID cards. Signing up to no2id shouts that lound and clear. Look at the supporters section on their site and we even have our logo pop up on the main page now and then!
Roger Knapmans new year message also makes it clear where we stand. I am not sure how much more UKIP can do to make it any clearer now!

Thank-you, folks for your comfitmation. I was looking to see if the message was indeed known by one and all - I had seen the no2id affiliation, but was curious to ascertain whether it was "common knowledge" and whether the methods of disseminating the information were, in fact, working.
I don't know if any of you saw Teletext a few days ago, when Redwood was cited as saying ID cards were not a "core" policy of the Tories. The story was very quickly eliminated from Teletext, probably at the behest of Howard. Of course no such mention on the Blair Broadcasting Corporation! |
