Default Guardian calls us "extremist"

Such tactics may yet ensure that, while Dunn could force the Tories INTO phpbb_a humiliating fourth place behind the extremist UK Independence Party, Labour holds on to Peter Mandelson's old seat.
Why on Earth is the word "extremist" used there? What exactly is extreme about UKIP? Is it the immigration policy? The party is simply representing a majority of the public in its stance on stronger enforcement of immigration and asylum laws.

Default Taking it to the Extreme.

Extreme, meaning we are so far removed from the Guardians' mindset that they are choking on their tofu!

What gets me is the sub-header, quote:

Lib Dems face internal struggle as they decide whether a shift to the left will harm general election chances

Either one has firm, meaningful policies or one doesn't.

It's a political centrist codeword meaning "anyone who doesn't take 99% of the status quo as read, and compete solely in terms of minor tweaks to the remaining 1%".

As a concept, it's the reason for the demise of the Tories: the political center is now so far left-nanny-authoritarian that they have no remaining 1% of wiggle room.

The libdems have a firm meaningful policy: they'd like to see proportional representation. This would lead to more libdems playing kingmaker in coalition governments.

Other than that, they've always blown in the wind, everywhere from Libertarian to left-of-Lenin.

Is it not about time that the Guardian was formally asked to explain why they use the term extremist to discribe UKIP, and in what context?

Do you really need this to be answered. The Guardian are notorious left wing labour supporters. Extremist is a word more associated with the evil BNP. The UKIP are a threat to the labour party so the Guardian use their influence to slander the the UKIP so people lump them in with the BNP.

Unfortunately most people believe exactly what is printed in whatever paper they buy.

I think the way that the Guardian report is pathetic.

Most normal people can see through this use of unnecessary adjectivies.

UKIP is NOT an extremist party - just normal people try to represent an opinion.

The Guardian has always been a very left-wing paper. They call us 'extremist' because they don't have any real arguments as to why people should not vote for us. They throw mud at us in the hope it will stick. Pathetic!
