    Greatest Briton

    Who is your greatest Briton?

Mine is Ted Heath. Without his courage and determination Britain would not be in the centre of European politics as it is today.

I can understand why he is so popular but once you did a little deeper he turns out to be a very nasty piece of work indeed and not the person without whom we would not have won WW2.

I suggest it is Matthew Hopkins, aka "The Witchfinder Genera"l active between 1645-1647.

Being a failed lawyer with no qualifications, he would be the ideal choice to bring some overdue justice to both houses of parliament.

I really do wish I could find a copy of the "Egyptian Book of the Dead"!

So we would have won the war under Halifax and Co? They would have thrown in the towel before you could say "Seig Heil!"

You're just against him because he was an uber-racist.

Do you remember that great movie with Vincent Price and Oliver Reed?

Churchill was as ruthless as was required for the country to survive. He is still way behind Hitler, Stalin and co. I don't think anyone of todays mob is even fit to walk in the shadow of his tomb. They stopped providing backbones at public schools after 1945.
