Yes
No
Do you believe in witches? And if so then what should we do about them? In Kenya they have taken to burning them.
BBC NEWS | Africa | Horror of Kenya's 'witch' lynchings
Villagers, many straight from their farms, and armed with machetes, sticks and axes, are shouting and crowding round in a big group in Kenya's fertile Kisii district.
I can't see clearly what is going on, but heavy smoke is rising from the ground and a horrible stench fills the air.
More people are streaming up the hill, some of them with firewood and maize stalks.
Suddenly an old woman breaks from the crowd, screaming for mercy. Three or four people go after her, beat her and drag her back, pushing her onto - what I can now see - is a raging fire.
I was witnessing a horrific practice which appears to be on the increase in Kenya - the lynching of people accused of being witches.

Yes they do
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

They generally like to practise wicca.
There will never be a socalist utopia, Nothings perfect.
Yes they do, I know a few, the broomstick and warty chin concept of witches is a mostly Christian led hate fest mainly from primitive superstitious societies like we were hundreds of years ago. Indeed, real witches refrain from curses and other actions leading to the harm of someone else due to the threefold law, which means anything which intends to harm another comes back three times. Whether spells and curses actually work or not is another matter entirely.![]()

The wind howled. Lightning stabbed at the earth erratically, like an inefficient assassin. Thunder rolled back and forth across the dark, rain-lashed hills. The night was as black as the inside of a cat. It was the kind of night, you could believe, on which gods moved men as though they were pawns on the chessboard of fate.
In the middle of this elemental storm a fire gleamed among the dripping furze bushes like the madness in a weasel's eye. It illuminated three hunched figures.
As the cauldron bubbled an eldritch voice shrieked: 'When shall we three meet again?' There was a pause.
Finally another voice said, in far more ordinary tones: 'Well, I can do next Tuesday.'

I do so like Pratchett.

In face of the Western Christian Church scandles about the institution as high as the vatican council, protecting peadophile priests from prosecution, then with the mass realisation that God cares for nothing and no one except himself. It's hardly surprising that Wican and Pagan practises are coming back into fashion.

I think witches should be burned.
