I heard that the Icelandic banks were in deep trouble months ago and that they were on the verge of bankruptcy. If I heard about it, and ignored it because I had no money there, why didn't the professionals who had placed their clients' money there pay more attention?

It's an outrage so much British Government cash was held in a foreign bank in the first place.
It should all be held in a government owned British bank.
