Talking Haltemprice and Howden By-election!!!!

I should have said Haltemprice and Howden By-election!!!! My mind was off beam. they keep changing the names of constituencies, it's hard to keep up.

I thought that was what you meant! I even looked up Boothferry to make sure.

Yes, of course it is tempting. I think the Liberal Party would usually jump at the chance to stand in a by-election with no LibDem candidate. We'd get a respectable vote and it would certainly make a lot more people aware of our party's existence. However, given the circumstances of the by-election I think there is a good chance that we'll follow the LibDem's lead and sit this one out. After all, the Liberal Party opposes to 42 day detention, and if the whole point of Davis standing for re-election is to make a protest against that policy, then I suppose we should be backing him up.

Haven't seen any indication yet from the Liberal leadership about which way they'll decide. There is a discussion thread already on the Liberal Forum here:
