Default Are there any anti-EU Liberal Democrats?

Just out of interest, are there any anti-EU leading Liberal Democrats - the Tories possess some, as even do Labour, just wondered if the Liberal Democrats have some in their parliamentary ranks?

I would have though none. How can you be anti EU and yet belong to a pro EU party? All of today's Politicians are career politicians, so to keep their highly paid jobs, they toe the party line!

I know the Portsmouth South MP Mike Hancock supported the Iwantareferendum campaign.

There was a LibDem peer called Lord Beaumont who was a vice president of the Campaign for an Independent Britain. However, he eventually left the LibDems and became the Green Party's only peer instead. I don't know whether this was due to his stance on the EU. Sadly, he died a couple of months ago.

David Heath is about as close as you can get. He must be pretty anti if he was prepared to sacrifice a top job for the backbenches so that we may get a referendum, which he knew the government would loose. So it is possible that there are more who are as yet undeclared.

There are many people in the Liberal Democrats who are far from happy with their party stance on the EU. However their reasons for being against the EU are quite varied.

It would be a bit rude. They are not in high office in the Liberal Democrats, just lowly foot soldiers like you and I are in UKIP, Kernow.

It seems to me the Libdems need their own eurosceptic wing of the party. I know this might seem an odd idea but they might be surprised of the amount of support they had if they all found out how many of them there were. There are a few in higher positions, and after all it makes logical sense if you are going to call yourself a democrat, to have power in as many hands as possible. I know the leadership is dodgy but ground up strategies can work very well. I don't care what party an MP is from if they are against the EU, the more the merrier.
