Disproof of Global Warming Hype Published | MND: Your Daily Dose of Counter-Theory

"A mathematical proof that there is no “climate crisis” has been published in debate on global warming in Physics and Society, a scientific publication of the 46,000-strong American Physical Society.

Christopher Monckton, who once advised Margaret Thatcher, demonstrates via 30 equations that computer models used by the UN’s climate panel (IPCC) were pre-programmed with overstated values for the three variables whose product is “climate sensitivity” (temperature increase in response to greenhouse-gas increase), resulting in a 500-2000% overstatement of CO2’s effect on temperature in the IPCC’s latest climate assessment report, published in 2007.

Lord Monckton’s paper reveals that –

--The IPCC’s 2007 climate summary overstated CO2’s impact on temperature by 500-2000%;
--CO2 enrichment will add little more than 1 °F (0.6 °C) to global mean surface temperature by 2100;
--Not one of the three key variables whose product is climate sensitivity can be measured directly;
--The IPCC’s values for these key variables are taken from only four published papers, not 2,500;
--The IPCC’s values for each of the three variables, and hence for climate sensitivity, are overstated;
--“Global warming” halted ten years ago, and surface temperature has been falling for seven years;
--Not one of the computer models relied upon by the IPCC predicted so long and rapid a cooling;
--The IPCC inserted a table into the scientists’ draft, overstating the effect of ice-melt by 1000%;
--It was proved 50 years ago that predicting climate more than two weeks ahead is impossible;
--Mars, Jupiter, Neptune’s largest moon, and Pluto warmed at the same time as Earth warmed;
--In the past 70 years the Sun was more active than at almost any other time in the past 11,400 years."

But hey, don't believe him, believe Clippo instead !

And before people start bashing him for not apparently being a "real" scientist, they should read his response to similar claims made in this response in 2006

So I suppose someone will now come on and say that this guy is talking out of his backside and that he is plain wrong. would fit in nicely with my thoughts on global warming / government involvement / taxation / etc

I assume, this is the same 'story' that went around the blogs a month ago about Monckton's dazzling new calculations predicting the end of AGW.
If so, you would be well advised to start reading sources that are unbiased and more timely, e.g.
RealClimate

(if my assumption is wrong, then I'll wait for other real experts to debunk Monckton - as he has ALWAYS been done).

If you read the RealClimate article I linked to you may understand, (although I doubt it) that Monckton's methodology has been shown to be seriously flawed by the Climate scientists who actually do real research into this subject.

Policy dictates the science, not vice versa.

Similar to the phrase "lies, lies and statistics", Monckton demonstrates that those claiming the science of MMGW is correct, is demonstrating how it is actually wrong.

To counter that argument with your old line of "that's not authentic" or "don't beleive this, believe that" is missing the point completely when Monckton is the one making the accusation that their science is incorrect.

You believe those given a platform within the IPCC fraternity and mainstream media are trustworthy scientists(do you really ?

) and people that have woken up to the truth do not trust them as far as they can throw them.

You are utterly & absolutely wrong YChTT. In this case, & most of Monckton's other allegations, he has attempted to recalculate certain sets of data to show that AGW is either false or that it doesn't matter.

In every case, those with far greater mathematical abilities than you or I, have found critical flaws in his logic, be that cherry-picking data or using assumptions that have unsound mathematical bases. In this particular APS case, if you had read particularly my middle link earlier, Monckton introduces a 'factor' into the calculation which is a third of that used by everybody and cannot justify why he did so.

I recall acres of postings you have had with Akria and Besoeker on the subject of 'proof'. But one thing I think they and most intellectuals agree is that only only in mathematics is a logical 'proof' absolute.

You are simply too paranoid about your 'conspiracy' theories to accept, as the rest of the world does, that AGW is real & won't go away on the flawed calculations of shills like Monckton.

You asked me for 'proof' - I've given it to you. Now you 'prove' to me that AGW is a con.
( & no 2nd or 3rd hand 'cr*p from Infowars or similar crackpot sources please, - just peer-reviewed science please).
