Christine Constable the Vice Chairman of the English Democrats has stood down in advance of the party's Annual General Meeting and has not sought re-election for a 7th year in office. Christine made the decision to leave the party reluctantly and as a result of changes to her personal and family circumstances which made it impossible for her to continue in her role. Christine hopes to retain some involvement with the English movement and hopes to carry on editing the English Voice Magazine. Christine would like to thank all those who have worked so tirelessly for the Cause and for the support received over the years. The Cause will continue to go from strength to strength and the English Democrats will continue to forge the only viable political party the English people can rely on to protect their interests. Christine will be stepping down from politics entirely, but will continue to write and campaign on behalf of England unconstrained by political affiliation or political office. Christine salutes all those true patriots who have supported the Cause so resolutely and who have worked to make the English Democrats the only viable English National Party there is and sends her Best Wishes to the new influx of NC members and volunteers shortly to be appointed. Christine hands her baton to the next VC adding "don't drop it, England relies on the EDP to succeed". She sends her good wishes to all her friends within the movement. England will always be in her heart. ----------------------------------------------------- |

This is very bad news for the EDP and for the cause in general. She is one of the most committed and hard working people I have met.
Lets hope we see her back at some point. |

Will she recieve the same demonising and slurs that myself and others recieved on leaving?
What's the odds on her and Robin being seen back in the Conservative Party in the future, back with the PC brigade who dare not fight for the ethnic English.

On my expereance she was commited and hard working towards those who oppossed her view mainly.
Which is not a great way of moving forward with a party is it. and what is it she always told myself and many others... we are in it for the long run etc its going to be a long road etc If she spent more time understanding her party members concerns and views and practised what she preached, she wouldn't look a bit daft now really, on leaving, would she?

For what it is worth, Christine Constable seemed to me to be a passionate, sincere and reasoned English nationalist who gave the English Democrats hours of her time most days for a number of years, who gave them many, many thousands of pounds and who worked her socks off for the cause. When Christine took charge of something, such as the J4E march in May 2007, then whatever it was seemed to me to be done well and completed. I also take notice of her media savvy and the fact that she achieved the most and perhaps the best media coverage of any English nationalist.
I am out of touch with what is happening in the EDs, but I would have thought the departure of this remarkable English woman and patriot leaves them with a vital gap to fill.

I have no particular opinion about Christine Constable but the above comments have somehow overlooked the fact that she is personally owed £30,000 by the English Democrats Party.
Party Finance - The Electoral Commission : Regulatory issues : Political parties : Registers : Register of borrowings by political parties : English Democrats Party borrowings summary The statement Cassie quoted included: Quote:
I have no agenda in the above and if a relevant forum member confirms that Christine Constable is happy to continue as a significant creditor to the English Democrats for the forseeable future, I cannot claim otherwise. |

It seems that many do not fully understand the nature of those loans and the fact that they are unsecured. For practical purposes, this means that repayment cannot be enforced, unlike [for example] mortgages which are secured against property which can be sold to set against the amount loaned. Most of the EDP's borrowing is in the form of unsecured loans. Note 2 of the Party's latest return [for 2007] to the Electoral Commission refers to the matter of repayment. On a personal note, I would express the opinion [when have I not!] that, despite having crossed swords with Christine, it would be regrettable if her departure from active English politics becomes permanent. I can appreciate that, for a variety of reasons, she might feel the need to take a break, and I suspect that once her batteries are re-charged, she may well want to return to the fray; this is to be very much hoped! I would also record that, whilst I am not averse to heated debates with anyone, I have declined ever to voluntarily walk away from the situations I've found myself in. Neither have I excluded or been party to excluding anyone who has demonstrated commitment to the EDP . . . and that is more than some of the posters here can claim! If we can't deal properly with ourselves, how can we really expect to deal effectively with our opponents? One might well ponder about the identities of those who create real divisions. |
