Regarding the above and my use of the word PAP in my last posting this thread (previous page):

My dictionary gives the above definition for PAP and also these:

1. "A mash or pulp"

2. "light or trivial reading matter; nonsense"

3. "the nipple of a breast"

I wonder if those who formed the Popular Alliance Party realised, when they agreed on the name of their party, that the initials of the words in the name of their party form a word which has the above definitions?

Perhaps they were all suicidal when they formed PAP,afterall, they had been Veritas members before that.

Quite a strain on anyone I would think.

To be fair to them and it would be cruel to be unfair. The name registered with the Electoral Commision is 'The Popular Alliance' they do not use the word party.

Pa has a far nicer ring to it than Pap.

Default Press Association. Popular Alliance Party

As we know, the Press Association also use PA.

If the Popular Alliance Party put out press releases with PA written on them people might think they are from the Press Association.

Stretton ward, East Staffordshire Borough Council result (percentages in brackets):

Con 661 (36.89)
Lab 366 (20.42)
BNP 327 (18.25)
PA 233 (13.00)
LibEUdim 205 (11.44)

Total 1792 (28% turnout).

A pretty good result for the PA, and an even better result for the BNP. Now if there were just one populist/rightist party slugging it out with Camorons NuTories, how well do people think that it might do?

Sounds to me Mike as it they put their backs (or more likely their legs!) into it. An example to others!
