Libertarianism in itself is neither Left nor Right.
For example, you can get Libertarians who lean towards the left, then those such as Margaret Thatcher who, although wasn't exactly a Libertarian, shared many similarities to what could be called a right-wing Libertarian.

This is quite a useful chart as a starter:

The problem with debates on political ideology is that no one seems to agree on the meaning of the terms used.

There are socialist 'libertarians' and capitalist libertarians. They are far from the same, in the same way that BNP nationalism is different to Sinn Fein nationalism.

You tell me, oh wise sage! What is the indisputable correct answer?

Does it have anything to do with negative rights?

By any definition of the term it is still going strong.

Libertarian socialism is an oxymoron and a disgrace. Collectivism is coercion to the individual. It is therefore against freedom and immoral.

The USA. $9000 stolen from every American family and given to corporations that didnt ask for it, chosen by a small elite, with no benefit for the victim. That's fascism.

China. Go to the Amnesty International website or just google "Chinese human rights abuses".

I know you probably WON'T get the picture. But you should

Statism is left wing. End of.
How can this be when Statism can produce two opposites in society.
For example Right wing statism could deport all non-whites and create a monoracial society.
Left wing statism on the other hand could enforce multiracialism and create a mongrel nation.

By any definition of the term it is still going strong.
Last state anywhere near Fascism in my mind would be Peron's second bout in charge in Argentina in the 1970's.

Libertarian socialism is an oxymoron and a disgrace. Collectivism is coercion to the individual. It is therefore against freedom and immoral.
Strange when Mill himself moved to this possition when he realised how much poverty restricts freedom.

The USA. $9000 stolen from every American family and given to corporations that didnt ask for it, chosen by a small elite, with no benefit for the victim. That's fascism.
It's not Fascism in this case just Liberalism or Neo-Conservatism.
Yet this type of politics could apply to a number of ideologies.

China. Go to the Amnesty International website or just google "Chinese human rights abuses".
Human rights can be abused by any system including a Libertarian one.
